Carolyn Hoppe

Carolyn HoppeHi everyone! This is Carolyn Hoppe. I will be taking over for Jennifer Featherston after this Friday, August 22, 2008.

As you have probably read, Jennifer and Larry are moving to Ithaca, NY for Larry to take a position as a researcher at Cornell University. This is a big offer for them and they are really excited about the professional opportunities. Larry and Jennifer will be finishing up their Ph.D.'s in Rehabilitation Education at the University of Arkansas (U of A) during the next few months. The U of A rehabilitation faculty are thrilled to have a set of their students join the academic league at Cornell.

Today at Quality Life, we all wished Jennifer a fond farewell at the office with a cake in her honor, and a card for Scull Creek Residents to sign on her behalf. The office staff celebrated at the Olive Garden restaurant for lunch and presented Jennifer with a memento of Arkansas--A glass Blue Bird of Happiness by TerraStudios, and a collection of books to read at her leisure.

WE WILL MISS YOU JENNIFER!

Village at Scull Creek Filling Up!

We are so excited that The Village at Scull Creek is filling up! If you are not familiar with this project, The Village is a 54 unit apartment complex that was universally designed for people with disabilities. The apartments officially began leasing in January 2008. The beauty of this complex is that although it was designed to be accessible, you do not have to have a disability to live here. Currently, 36 of the apartments are occupied. I have really enjoyed getting to know all of the residents. We take walks along the Scull Creek Trail, which is part of the City of Fayetteville extensive trails system (and conveniently located just feet from our front doors)! We also have monthly potlucks in the Commons and Courtyard, which is a great way for people to get to know their neighbors. I also enjoy meeting everyone's pets! The Village allows pets under 35 pounds, and we have many personable four-legged residents that I enjoy seeing outside my office window everyday.
There are still 18 two bedroom/one bath units available, so if you know anyone who might be interested, please pass on Stephanie Gillihan's phone number (479) 527-6322. Stephanie is our tireless manager who does such a fabulous job of keeping the apartments looking beautiful and making sure everyone is happy!
