University of Arkansas Class Visit

Dr. Kristy Scott's Survey of Exceptionalities class from the U of A visited Monday night to learn about Quality Life's programs and services. There were about 20 students in attendance. The class is "a survey of the characteristics of students with exceptional needs. Students review the definitions of exceptionalities, learning and behavior characteristics of individuals with exceptionalities and the legal basis for the education of persons with exceptionalities in both elementary and secondary schools" (U of A Course Catalog). After graduation, the students plan on teaching in the Public School system. Many of them are interested in teaching music and art classes.
The students were very excited about the work that Quality Life is doing in the community and had the opportunity to meet Kathy, a resident of
Brookside, and Justin, a resident of The Village at Scull Creek. The students will be coming back to visit Foundations and meet some of the participants of that program.
